Carl Roger Shoaf, of Fredonia, age 79 died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. Carl was born on July 24, 1930 to John Thomas and Mamie Wastella (Walker) Shoaf in Roper, Kansas.
On December 31, 1950 Carl married Deloras Powell in Fredonia, Kansas. In 1951 Carl was enlisted into the U.S. Army, where he was acting Sergeant in the motor pool . After he returned home, Carl and Deloras stayed in the Fredonia area. They were married for 59 years until his death, Deloras survives at their home.
Carl was a member of the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Fredonia. Carl owned and operated “Carl’s Welding Shop” from 1963 to 1975 until he became disabled. Carl farmed and worked at the A.D.M. plant here in Fredonia. He was a member of the Iron Workers Union, and was a welder. Carl loved having and raising various types of animals. He was a very giving man, besides raising three children of his own, he and his wife had 9 foster children all of which were boys.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Helen Rusk, Winfred Brunker and Carol Miller. Two brothers; Howard and John David Shoaf
Cremation has been requested. A celebration of life memorial service will be held Saturday February 13, 2010 at 10:30 am at the Calvary Wesleyan Church with Pastor Loren Rovenstine officiating, Inurnment to follow at the Fredonia City Cemetery.
