Rick Brock, Owner/Funeral Director/Embalmer
As the founding owner of Countryside Funeral Home, Rick Brock moved to Fredonia, Kansas in 1990. A graduate of Arapahoe Community College, he holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Mortuary Science. As an owner of Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, Howard, Chanute, and Humboldt, he is a licensed embalmer and funeral director, and crematory operator. Rick is also a Kansas Licensed Life Insurance Agent. A member of the Rotary Club of Fredonia and serves on the board of the Fredonia area Adopt-A-Family.
Randy Robinson, Owner / General Manager/Assistant Funeral Director
Randy joined Countryside Funeral Home in November 2013 as the Chief Financial Officer and General Manager, Assistant Funeral Director and licensed crematory operator, and brings many years of business management experience with him. He proudly served 8 years in the Armed Forces before joining a national Waste Management co-processing company where he was employed for 16 years. He held many positions from Operations, Sales, and Management during his tenure, with the last 8 years serving as Facility Manager of 2 locations with overall responsibility of 53 employees.
He currently serves on the Board for the Fredonia Area Chamber of Commerce and is the Immediate Past President of the Fredonia Rotary Club. Randy also serves on the board of the Fredonia area Adopt-A-Family and the Fredonia Economic and Development Committee. Randy has one son Austin, who has worked for Countryside Funeral Home for the past 2 years.
Ryan Bilby, Funeral Director
Ryan Bilby earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Baptist University in 2008. He grew up in the Chanute and Humboldt area and currently resides in Chanute. Ryan is a licensed Funeral Director, and Kansas Life Insurance Agent. He is married to Erin Bilby and has two sons, Oliver and Jones. Ryan is a member of Living Word Assembly in Chanute and a member of the Rotary Club of Chanute.
Aaron Stoelting, Licensed Funeral Director
Aaron Stoelting earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University in 2012. He grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana where he lived until moving to Kansas in 2015. Before coming to Countryside Funeral Home, Aaron worked for a management consulting company in Indiana where he specialized in Technology and Training consultation for companies serving those with disabilities in Indiana and Colorado. Aaron is married to Shannon Stoelting.
Susan Galvan, Assistant Funeral Director / Apprentice
Susan earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Emporia State University with a teaching license in both elementary and secondary education. Besides teaching for the past 35 years, Susan has been a local licensed pastor with the United Methodist Church for the past 10 years. She has been involved with many community events and organizations including the Howard Library Board, Elk Konnected Youth Development, The Ladies Auxiliary of Carter-Rader Post 149, West Elk Alumni Board, and was employed by the City of Howard as the Swimming Pool Manager. She is pursuing her Master of Divinity at St. Paul School of Theology. Susan has three grown children, Corey, Courtney, and Cameron, and 3 grandchildren.
Sarah Aikins, Assistant Funeral Director / Apprentice Embalmer
Sarah Aikins earned her Associate of Applied Science degree in Mortuary Science from Kansas City Kansas Community College in May 2016. She is an assistant funeral director and is serving her apprenticeship towards becoming an embalmer and licensed director. Sarah grew up in Humboldt and currently resides in Iola with her husband, Jim Aikins. They have six children, Jerik, Denton, Marli, Kasie, Sloan, and Drew and one grandson. Sarah attends the Iola First Assembly of God.
Stephanie Starkey, Licensed Assistant Funeral Director
Stephanie moved back to Kansas (Fredonia / Chanute) rural area around 1982. In 2005 she married the Love of her Life, Mark Starkey. They have a cattle ranch in rural Buffalo. Stephanie has a step son Jared & daughter-in-law Emma & two granddaughters, Amelia & Nova, who live in Topeka.
Stephanie’s passion has always been working with animals and she started working for Wilco Veterinary Clinic after moving back to Kansas, where she worked for 10 years. She also worked at R.K. Steel, Inc. as an Executive Asst. for 13 years. Immediately before coming to Countryside Funeral Home, Stephanie was a Sgt. for Wilson County Sheriff’s Dept. – Correctional Facility for 2 ½ years.
Jan Robinson, Administrative Assistant / Family Support Staff
Jan grew up in Independence, KS, studied business at ICC. She moved to Fredonia and worked for Ladow & Spohn for 30 years, the last 5 years as shipping manager. Jan worked 5 years for Dr. Morris and Hill Medical Clinic, and as the Manager of Roots & Blooms. Jan is married to Rudy Robinson and they have 3 children: Randy, Cary and Heidi and 7 grandchildren. Jan is a member of the Church of the Nazarene
Lyle Kee, Funeral Director / Embalmer
Lyle Kee is a native of Woodson County. He is currently chief of police in Yates Center, a position he has held since January, 1986. Lyle holds five college degrees, including a master’s degree in public administration, and has taught criminal justice courses, criminal law, American government, state & local government, and history at Allen Community College since 1990. He is a graduate of the School of Mortuary Science at Kansas City Kansas Community College and is a licensed embalmer and funeral director. Lyle is a member of the Catholic Church, Kansas Peace Officers Association, Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police, Gilead Lodge #144 A.F.A.M., Scottish Rite, York Rite, and Mirza Shrine.
Robin Haines, Licensed Assistant Funeral Director
Graduated from The Salavation Army College for Officers Training, Chicago, Illinois; Bachelor Degree in Ministry from Christian Bible College in Independence, Missouri; Assistant Funeral Director since 1989 with Zimmerman Funeral Home. Besides pastoring for 40 years and Chaplaincy work Robin has been involved with various community committees from Chamber of Commerce, to civic clubs like Kiwanis & Lions, to serving as chairman of Howard Housing Authority Board or South Central Council on Aging and Elk County Council on Aging. Currently pursing a Doctorate Degree in Pastorial Ministries.
