George David Manly

George David Manly, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, at the age of 75 in Wichita, Kansas. Born on November 17, 1949, in Perry, Oklahoma, George lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family. George was the son of James Harold Lloyd Manly and Betty Elizabeth (Albright) Manly. He grew up surrounded by the warmth of a close-knit family, which laid the foundation for the values he cherished throughout his life. After graduating from Chanute High School in 1967, George embarked on a career that would span over three decades. He dedicated more than 30 years of his life to HBD before retiring from Bridgewood Cabinets in 2015. In addition to his commitment to his work, George was a devoted family man. He married the love of his life, Nancy Yokum, on June 4, 1972, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Humboldt, Kansas. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising four children: Marilyn, James (Becky), Crystal (Aaron), and Angela (Noie). George's legacy will continue through his 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy and fulfillment. George is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Manly, and his siblings—brothers James Manly and Richard Lisman, and sister Betty Ann (Manly) Gray. He is survived by his brother Louie Rigole, and sisters Liline Adele (Lisman) Simmons, Veva Noreen (Rigole) Morris, and Marilyn Jane (Manly) Cawthon. The bonds of family were incredibly important to George, and he took pride in nurturing these relationships. A man of many interests, George found joy in simple pleasures. He loved playing pool, bowling, fishing, and camping. His weekends were often filled with outdoor adventures and cherished moments with friends and family. George was also a passionate sports enthusiast, staying actively involved in his children’s lives by coaching their teams. He had a particular fondness for his favorite television shows, especially CSI and war movies, often sharing these moments with loved ones. George's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support. His legacy of love and family will undoubtedly live on through the generations he inspired. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Chanute American Legion on Saturday, July 26th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home.
