Richard Goodnough

DODGE CITY - Richard "Dick" Goodnough, 85, died Monday, October 23, 2017 at Trinity Manor, Dodge City. He was born August 5, 1932 at Chanute, Kansas, the son of Harry Leroy and Ethel Ann (Grant) Goodnough. He was a 1950 graduate of Chanute High School and in 1981 he received his Associates Degree from Dodge City Community College. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 obtaining the rank of Corporal. He was a longtime Dodge City resident, having lived in Chanute, Manhattan, Kansas, Kansas City, Missouri, Madison, Kansas and Junction City, Kansas while working as an Electronic Technician for the FAA, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and 4th Degree member and past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 2955 both in Dodge City. He was also a member of the Golden Belt Gem and Mineral Society, Southwest Kansas Gem and Mineral Society, American Legion and the Rocky Mountain Federation. On February 7, 1953 he married Terry J. Booth at Chanute. She preceded him in death on October 7, 2006. Survivors include: his 2 daughters, Cheri Lininger and husband Robert, and Mitzi Cox and husband Robert all of Dodge City; 5 grandchildren, Kelly Cox, Tammy Smith, Leigh Ann Funk, Matthew Cox and Neil Lininger; and 7 great grandchildren, Devon Lininger, Faith Lininger, Riley Smith, Braylen Lininger, Jayvion Lininger, Lilly Funk and Elyssa Funk. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Goodnough. Vigil service and Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7:00 pm Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am Friday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will be on Saturday, October 27, 2017 at 11 am at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Chanute, Kansas. The Chanute Honor Guard is in charge of military honors. Graveside service has been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home in Chanute, Kansas.
