I met Bill in the mid 1970s and immediately liked him. Over the years when I fished at his properties I would get to visit with him and one day he told me his philosophy, "If you can't do it from horseback, it isn't worth doing".
I was saddened when Kate told me of his death. I last saw him in late 2025 and visited for a while. He missed his wife but knew that her passing was best for her. He was very proud of his family, especially the grandson at the Air Force Academy.
I will miss him too.
