Memories: Riding in his big white vehicle with the cool red interior. Looking at his greyhounds. Picking vegetables and fruits from his garden. Getting pajamas from him every year for Christmas, and playing Christmas bingo at his house.

Max was a special guy to me and my family. He always took special care of my grandma Louise and us. One of my fondest memories was when we visited his house when I was little. I would go out into his garden where the corn stalks grew way above my head. I’d pick, shuck, and steal a few bites of the delicious corn before running back to put a few stalks in the bucket.
Max was always generous with what he had. Whether it be his delicious produce, some money to buy something “purty” or offering you a Mountain Dew as soon as you walked in the door, he always made sure we were taken care of. I would also be remiss if I didn’t mention the Christmas pajamas I got every year from him ever since I was little. It was something I always looked forward to. I am so thankful you were a part of my life. See you again, Max.
Some of my fondest memories are of Max arriving with bags full of corn for us to shuck, walking timidly alongside him and G’ma while we smuggled his delicious tomatoes into Braum’s, the sweet phone calls I received when I was working in Bartlesville to make sure I was alright, opening the Christmas PJ’s he sent every year, and his famous “finer than frog’s hair” response whenever you asked how he was.
Thanks for looking after my Grandma. I’m sure glad she chose you.
I will miss you, but I know I’ll see you again.

I will sure miss Max! He and my mom loved each other, looked out for each other and took care of each other for decades! He would call my mom multiple times a day to check in so I never had to worry about her, knowing if he couldn't reach her, he'd be out looking for her. On wintery nights when I was driving home from college, he'd assure my mom that, when I reached his county, the roads would be clear for my safe passage. I think I spent the night at his home on one such wintery night when the roads were freezing over faster than he could clear them! He was a bonus grandfather to my kids and we have so many fond memories of summer visits! He grew delicious cantaloupe, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, corn and more in his garden. I'm pretty sure he planted his large garden for others to enjoy more than for himself. I do believe he gave most of his abundance away. Max was a care taker of others. Yes, we sure will miss you, Max, but will see you again one day in heaven!
Grandpa Max was a special man. He has been a part of my life since birth and I have many fond memories of him. He would load my sister Trinnie, Grandma Louise and I all into the front seat of his white truck to take us to braums for icecream. He would bite a hole in the bottom of his cone and say a mouse ate it. In his truck was a little figurine of a sailor and a scruffy dog. I asked him for that a few years ago but it was long gone. Max was a wonderful supporter of me. He would slip me $20 here and there when grandma wasn’t looking! Every year for Christmas for as long as I can remember , Max would get us PJ’s. Im wearing a pair as I type this. The last memory I have of my Grandpa Max was a sleepover and wonderful meal at his favorite restaurant, the Nut Hut. God surely blessed us with a sharp, kind and generous man. He will be dearly missed and forever reminisced ❤️
