Alberta Lynn "Bert" DeWitt's Obituary
Alberta Lynn Barkley DeWitt, age 61, of Moline, Kansas passed on Friday, November 13, 2015, peacefully in her sleep.
Alberta was born on February 10, 1954, at Chanute, KS. She graduated from Moline High School in 1972 and continued on to receive her degree as a Registered Nurse.
Alberta married Donnie Lee DeWitt on August 5th, 1972, at the First Baptist Church, Moline, KS. Two sons were born to this union, Brandon Lee and Brent Allen. She enjoyed fishing, camping and square dancing with Donnie and especially loved spoiling her grandchildren. Family, friends and her nursing career were Alberta’s love and joy.
Alberta is survived by her husband, Donnie, sons, Brandon and Brent, and her grandchildren Adyson, Lane and Grayson. She is also survived by her sisters Leah Jean Barkley Shore and her husband, Michael; and Teri Alene Barkley Straw and her husband, Zack. Her surviving brothers are Roy (Chip) Jadlot, Jr. and his wife, Laurie; Gary Barkley and his wife Angela; and Jimmy and Tim Jadlot-Roe.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents Albert Henry and Rosetta Mann Barkley, and, Mary Lou Van Dyke Hudson. A brother, Charles Alva Barkley, preceded her in death earlier this year.
Alberta leaves behind many caring friends and relatives. She was truly loved and will be missed.
The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 20, 2015, at the First Baptist Church, Moline, KS, where Alberta had been a member since 1967. Burial will follow at the Moline Cemetery. Family suggests memorials to the Alberta DeWitt Scholarship Fund for Nursing, to help local students get a nursing degree, and may be left with the funeral home or mailed to P.O. Box 1233, Howard, KS. 67349.
