Alice Lancaster's Obituary
Alice Nadine Lancaster, age 93 of Wichita, KS, passed away June 26, 2022.
Alice was born March 29, 1929 in Fredonia, KS to Thomas and Ina (Robertson) O’Brien. She grew up in Fredonia alongside 4 sisters, and graduated from Fredonia High School.
On August 8, 1947, Alice married John Lancaster in Fredonia. Together, they raised 5 children, and spent many happy years together until John’s passing. They began their life together in Fredonia, but moved to Wichita early in their marriage. Alice spent her life being a housewife and raising their children. They loved to spend time camping as a family at either Fall River Lake or Beaver Lake, which they did until they were in their 70’s. She loved to spend time swimming in the early morning and in the evenings, and tried to keep the kids out of the water during the daytime to keep them from getting sunburned. She also liked spending her time beach combing, just to see what had washed up on the beaches.
Doing things for her kids didn’t stop when they became adults. She loved doing anything for them, so whenever they would rent a house, if they needed curtains, she would sew them some. Alice loved being a mom and grandma, and later in life, a great-grandma and great-great-grandma.
