Alma Ollie Reed's Obituary
Alma O. Reed, age 94, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Fredonia, Kansas. She was born on June 21, 1915 in Kansas City, Kansas the daughter of Charles and Candis (Davis) Gailey.
On October 17, 1930 Alma married Jesse T. Reed Sr. in Wellsford, Kansas. Alma was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Fredonia. Alma was a homemaker, and raised seven sons. Alma and Jesse were married for 55 years until his death on December 29, 1985.
Alma is survived by six sons: Joe Reed, Don Reed, and David Reed all of Fredonia, Kansas, Jack Reed of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Jesse Reed Jr. of Spokane Washington, and Ronald Reed of Chanute, Kansas, one sister Mary Skinner of Wichita, Kansas, twenty nine grandchildren, seventy five great grandchildren, and twenty three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jesse T. Reed Sr., one son Robert “Bob†Reed, two grandsons Dan and T. J. Reed and three brothers.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the High Prairie Cemetery with Pastor Charlotte Coates Officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 8 pm, at Countryside Funeral Home. Family suggests contributions to the Golden Living Center in Fredonia or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
