Angel Espinosa Jr.'s Obituary
Angel Espinosa Jr., 88, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, May 27th, 2026 at Ascension Via Christi St. Teresa, Wichita, Kansas.
Angel was born in Ottawa, Kansas on March 17th, 1938, the son of Esperanza and Angel Espinosa Sr.
Angel graduated from Ottawa High School in 1956. He also earned an AA degree from Neosho County Community College.
Angel served his country by joining the U.S. Air Force in 1956. He completed Basic Training at Parks Air Force Base, California. Following Basic Training, he was stationed at McClellan Air Force Base, California and transferred to Lajes Field in the Azores. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1960.
He also served 6 years in the National Guard and received an Honorable Discharge.
In 1961 he started working for the Chanute Tribune (part of the Harris Newspaper chain) as a Teletype-Setter. In 1967 he transferred to the Camarillo California Newspaper. He retired from Deluxe Check Printers Corporation in 2003 as a Pressman. He delivered for Meals on Wheels until 2023.
He was united in marriage to Linda Angelica Jimenez on May 27th, 1967 in Ottawa, Kansas at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She survives of the home.
Angel and Linda loved living along California's Gold Coast and started a family in Camarillo, with Derek and Matthew born in California. Angel especially enjoyed having citrus trees in the front yard and picking the fruit to snack on. He also loved to take pictures. While at NCCC, he took a photography class and those pictures became cherished treasures for his family.
In a beautiful act of devotion, Angel passed away on his 59th wedding anniversary, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for his wife, Linda.
Along with his wife Linda, he is survived by his son, Derek Espinosa and two grandchildren, Chloe and William; one brother, David and three sisters, Rebecca, Abbie and Eva; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Matthew in 2001 and two brothers.
Reciting of the Rosary will take place at Countryside Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 10th at 5:00pm. Visitation will follow until 7:00pm. Graveside Service will be conducted on Thursday, June 11th at 11:00am at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Fresenius Medical Care Foundation.
