Ardeth Lockart Harwood's Obituary
Ardeth Eileen Harwood, age 93, died Friday, April 10, 2015 at a hospice facility in Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Harwood was born August 5, 1921, in Humboldt, KS to William and Nellie (Huss) Lockart.
After graduating from Humboldt High School, she became a licensed Cosmetologist. She married Dale B. Harwood, also of Humboldt on August 10, 1941. During the time he was serving in World War II, she worked a variety of jobs, including assembling aeronautical parts in Wichita, KS. Following Mr. Harwood’s discharge from the Army, they moved to Coffeyville, where Mrs. Harwood continued to reside until 2002, at which time she moved to Atlanta, GA, to be closer to her family.
Mrs. Harwood is survived by one daughter, Jolene Harwood and son-in-law Hal Melendy of Dunwoody, GA, one granddaughter, Sara Harwood Snavely, and one great grandson, Wiley Snavely.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978 as well as her only sister, Adele Lytle in 1983.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home Humboldt Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contribution be made to the Arthritis Foundation or Paralyzed Veterans of America, and may be left with the funeral home.
