Barbara Ann Herron's Obituary
Barbara Ann Herron Longtime resident of Chanute, Ks, Passed away Tuesday December 16, 2014. She was 71 years old.
Our mother passed peaceful and left this earth to be with the two things she loved the most her Lord and Savior and her spouse of over 50 years. She will be greatly missed and many tears will be shed with her passing. She had a love and passion for many things from her children, grandchildren, decorating her home, working in her yard, going to flea markets, traveling, playing golf, and spending time with friends.
Barbara was born July 11, 1943 in Izore, Tx to Elva and Margaret Holloman. As a young child the family moved to the Sweetwater, TX where she attended and graduated from Sweetwater High school in 1961. During high school she was an accomplished baton twirler winning several state medals and high rankings at competitions.
On July 23, 1961 she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Judson (Bill) William Herron, Jr. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2013. They were married for 52 years. They were inseparable and shared many likes together and loved each other tremendously. From the beautiful marriage the two had three children all of which are survivors. Bruce and wife Jeana Herron, Fort Collins Colorado, Britt Herron, Lafayette, LA, Brandi and husband Richard Swiler, Thayer, KS.
In 1977 Bill and Barbara made their home in Chanute, KS. Bill was an accountant in Fredonia for many years. She worked as his assistant until the mid-nineties when she began to work at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center until her retirement in 2008.
Additional survivors include four grandchildren – Trevor and wife Amanda Herron, Shelby Herron, Brayden Swiler, and Reece Swiler. Two great- grandchildren Addison Herron, and Paige Herron. One Sister Bobbie Hawyrz, a brother James and wife Vera Holloman, and a sister in law Margaret Wilson. She had many nephews and neieces which she adored.
She is preceded in death by her parents Elva Lowell Hollman, Margeret Mildred Holloman and one sister Adreta Petty.
Family will receive friends January 4 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at the Countryside Funeral Home, Gibson Chapel. Memorial Service will be January 5, 2015 2:00 pm., at the First Baptist Church, Chanute, KS
The family suggest that memorials be made to the American Heart Association- Go Red for Women and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
