Barbara Susan Ward's Obituary
Barbara Susan (McLaren) Ward age 66 of Chanute, Kansas gained her angel wings and was reunited with her soul mate on July 12, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Barbie was born on December 12, 1959 in Atwood, Kansas. The daughter of Marge “Sattler” and Tom McLaren. Barbie graduated from Chanute High School Class of 1978.
On November 21, 1981 Barbie married the love of her life, Rick Ward. Barbie and Rick were married 38 years. Barbie is survived by her daughters: Sheena (Monte) Patton of Chanute, Yvette (Kevin) Huseby of Oakdale, MN. Grandchildren: Landon, Logan, Liam and Josie Patton. Elaina and Nolan Huseby, mother Marge McLaren, Siblings: David (Julie) McLaren, Chris (Rick) Mason, many beloved nieces, nephews, sister-in-law’s and extended family.
Barbie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Humboldt, Kansas. She worked in several different roles over the years, always bringing kindness and compassion to everything she did. She loved watching the Kansas City Royals and the Chiefs. Her other past times included knitting, crocheting, and card games. She enjoyed spending time with family. Barbie was preceded in death by her husband, Rick Ward, father Tom McLaren, mother-in law Phyllis “Bentley” Ward, father-in law Harold Ward and brother-in-law Steve Ward.
Visitation will be held at Countryside Funeral Home on Thursday, July 16th with the family greeting friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 17th at 10:00am at Countryside Funeral Home with burial following at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Barbie’s name to the Cherry Street Youth Center or the First Missionary Baptist Church.
