Barbie Ann Boots' Obituary
Barbie Ann Boots, 67, passed away at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. She passed knowing how much she is loved.
Barbie was born on August 9, 1957 in Atchison, KS to John and Lois Smith. She was the middle of three children. Barbie moved with her family to Humboldt, KS in 1968. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1975. Barbie worked as the Personnel Director for the City of Chanute for over 20 years. Barbie also worked for the United States Postal Service for several years and helped care for Harvey Peck of Humboldt, KS as well as both of her parents before they passed.
Barbie will be remembered as generous, supportive, fun-loving, vibrant, caring and a joy to be around. Her smile was bright and she would warmly greet you with a “hi sweetheart.” Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved playing with her grandkids, teaching them how to be silly and have fun. She had a big heart for animals, especially her dog Bennie. She loved music and if it was “her song” you can bet she had her hands up, clapping and dancing. Watching football and basketball, especially cheering on the Chiefs or the Jayhawks, was a favorite pastime. Barbie was always up for a trip to the lake in the summer. She truly enjoyed life and when she was around, you were enjoying it too. She was one of a kind and will be missed by all who loved her.
Barbie is survived by her two children, Cody (Sarah) Lassman, Stacy (George) Khouri; her six grandchildren, Taylor, Ella, Riley, Johnny, Mia, Leo; her brother, Stan (Viva) Smith; her niece, Monica; nephew, Eric; as well as cousins, great nieces, nephews, family and friends who will all miss her dearly.
Barbie is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lois Smith; and brother, David Smith.
A memorial Service will take place at 11:00 am, Friday, March 7th at the Humboldt United Methodist Church. Burial will be directly after at Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt. Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home.
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy” Psalms 16:11
