Benny Charles Ray's Obituary
Benny Charles Ray, 77, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at his home in Fall River, Kansas. Benny was born on July 1, 1938 in Miltonville, Kansas, the son of Loris Alda and Vola Marie (Smith) Ray.
In 1956 Benny married Joyce Ann Trusell Ray in Nebraska. Joyce died in 1982. In 1982 Benny married Berniece Dameron Ray in Wichita, Kansas and she preceded him in death in 2013
Benny served in the United States Air Force, from 1956 until his retirement at the rank of Master Sargent in 1976. After retiring from the Air Force, Benny earned a bachelor’s degree in Business. He was a lifetime member of the Fredonia VFW and worked at Fredonia High School for 10 years as a custodian. Benny also owned the Cross Roads Café restaurant in Haverhill, Kansas. He was an avid Chiefs fan and loved reading western books, woodworking, and listening to country music.
Benny was preceded in death by his first wife Joyce and his second wife Berniece, his parents Loris and Vola, and his son Leslie Wayne Doyle.
He is survived by his sons Gary Ray, of Wichita and Ken Doyle (Kendra) of Henderson, NV; Daughters Sherri Vanderhoof (Andy) of Mulvane, KS, Diane Hadwiger (Kevin) of Wichita, Paula Crabbs of Pheonix, AZ, and Janet Doyle (John) of Wichita, KS; brothers John Ray (Mary) of Albine, KS and Bob Ray (Jo) of Clay Center, KS; sisters Jolene Miller (Nyle) of Council Bluff, IA and Doma Revell (Marvin) of Miltonvale, KS; as well as 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, KS. Visitation will be held Monday, November 30, 2015 from 4-6 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Weakly cemetery in New Albany, KS.
