Bernard P Mahoney's Obituary
Bernard “Barney†Mahoney, age 68, of Fredonia, Kansas, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Fredonia. Barney was born on March 5, 1943 in Wilson County to Phil Edward and Phyllis Pauline (Story) Mahoney.
Barney attended and graduated from Fredonia High School class of 1961. On October 1, 1977 Barney joined the US Army National Guard and served until July 23, 1985. After serving in the military Barney worked construction operating heavy equipment until his retirement.
Barney was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was active with the Cancer Support Group out of Burlington, KS, American Legion Post 0008 of Fredonia, and instructed for several years with the Kansas Hunters Education Instructors Association, and was inducted into the KHEIA Hall of Fame in 2011. In his spare time he enjoyed catering meals, visiting with his coffee buddies, but most of all he enjoyed his family.

4 Grandchildren and 1 Great grandchild
Barney was preceded in death by his parents and brother Mike Mahoney.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fredonia, with burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fredonia. Rosary will be Friday, December 16, 2011 at 7:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Memorials have been suggested to either Fredonia High School class of 1961 or the Cancer Support Group of Burlington, and may be left with the funeral home.
