Bernita June Knight's Obituary
Bernita J. Knight, age 83, of Severy, Kansas passed away Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the Fredonia Regional Hospital in Fredonia, Kansas. She was born on June 11, 1924 in Coyville, Kansas the daughter of Albert Lester and Edna Grace (Suits) Boss.
Bernita was a graduate of Severy Rural High School class of 1941. She married Wyatt Buren Knight on November 4, 1942. Wyatt drove Bernita and both their mothers to the Elk County courthouse in Howard, Kansas with a team and wagon, where their marriage ceremony was performed. Wyatt preceded in her death on March 9, 1986
Bernita loved to sew and quilt. Many times when you went to visit, she always had a new quilt in the frames and something new she was sewing on at the sewing machine. Her family still enjoys the many quilts she made. She worked at Ervin’s Café at the Severy Junction for many years as a cook. Her coconut, lemon and chocolate crème pies were loved by all. Many times, she was asked to bake pies for community functions. She spent her life taking care of her family and will be missed by all.

Floyd Boss of Osage City, Kansas
One sister:
Anna Mae Adcock of Shawnee Missions, Kansas

Bernita was preceded in death by her parents, one son David Lynn Knight in 1964, one daughter Cinda Marie Ware Chandler in 2003, one brother Clarence Boss, two sisters; Betty Boss and Verna McDonald, one daughter-in-law Sharon Knight, one grandson David Ray Allen and one great granddaughter Juliana Ware.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at the Severy Baptist Church in Severy, Kansas. Public viewing will be from 9:30 AM until service time Wednesday at the church. Interment will be at South Lawn Cemetery in Severy, Kansas. Family suggests contributions to either the Howard Twilight Manor or the Alzheimer’s Association and may be sent to Countryside Funeral Home P.O. Box 247, Fredonia, KS 66736.
