Bert O Boone's Obituary
Bert O. Boone, age 84, a resident of Wichita, Kansas and formerly of Moline, Kansas passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the College Hill Nursing Home in Wichita. He was born on July 20, 1927 in Braman, Oklahoma the son of Raymond Cecil and Elizabeth Bell (McLean) Boone.
From July 1945 to October 1947, Bert served his country in United States Navy. After his service was completed Bert worked for Boeing and other aircraft manufactures for many years. On July 15, 1966 Bert married Dixie Lee Watkins in Reno, Nevada. Together Bert and Dixie owned and operated the Cattleman’s Motel and Maverick Club outside of Moline. He attended the Moline Christian Church and was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. Dixie preceded Bert in death on September 28, 2001.
Bert is survived by one son Richard Boone of Wichita, Kansas, one daughter Barbara Hellewell of Wichita, Kansas, one brother Cecil Boone of Derby, Kansas and seven grandchildren. He was also preceded by his parents, two daughters Linda Bollinger and Jayne Stephens, one brother Ralph and one sister Viola.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2012 at Countryside – Zimmerman Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Rumbaugh officiating. Interment will be held at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard. Family suggests memorials to the Foundation Fighting Blindness and may be left with the funeral home.
