Betty Jean Grissom's Obituary
Betty Jean (Peak) Grissom, 95, of Erie, Kansas, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023.
She was born January 7, 1928, in Erie, Kansas, to Lloyd and Ethel (Himelwright) Peak.
She worked at the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Laramie, Wyoming, and Parsons State
Hospital until her retirement in 1993. After her retirement, she worked and volunteered at the Erie
Senior Center for many years.
She married Curtis Lee Grissom on October 1, 1948, in Laramie, Wyoming. They were happily married
for 58 years until his passing on July 26, 2007.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Wanda and Ben Shufelt, Erie, KS, Donna Grissom,
Neodesha, KS, and Diana and Bob Bradfield, Wichita, KS; ten grandchildren, Heather Ice, Rebecca Farrell,
Pamela Ehmke, Diana Roper, Christopher Reissig, Michael Bradfield, Nichole Fischer, Danielle Pearson,
Jonathan Shufelt, Jennifer Snow: 15 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Joe Peak, and sister, Ruth Ford.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at East Hill Cemetery in Erie,
Kansas.
