Betty Jean Allen's Obituary
Betty Jean Allen, age 79, a resident of Independence, Kansas and formerly of Carthage, Missouri passed away Monday, February 1, 2010 at her home. She was born on November 14, 1930 in Winfield, Kansas the daughter of Roy William and Nelia Alice (Gates) Savage.
After graduating high school she went on to earn her associates degree. On February 17, 1951 Betty was united in marriage to Ray R. Allen in Coffeyville, Kansas. Betty was a homemaker. She did work outside of the home for A.C.C. in Independence, Citizens National Bank and also in a laundromat.
Betty is survived by one son Roy Allen of Independence, Kansas, two grandsons and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray on March 3, 2003 and one sister.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 5, 2010 at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard with Pastor Robin Haines officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 9AM until noon at Zimmerman Funeral Home. Family suggests contributions to the Heartland Eye Bank in Kansas City and may be left with the funeral home.
