Betty June Layton's Obituary
Betty June Layton, age 80, a resident of Howard, Kansas passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at her home. She was born on June 12, 1933 in Cedar Vale, Kansas the daughter of Earl and Alice (Duensing) Sweaney. She was a graduate of Cedar Vale High School.
On December 25, 1954 Betty was united in marriage to John W. Layton in Kansas City, Kansas. For more than 20 years Betty worked as a cashier at the Howard State Bank. She was a past member of the BPW (Business and Professional Women’s Club) and a bowling league. Betty also enjoyed playing bingo, slot machines and attending horse races.
Betty is survived by her husband John Layton of Howard, two daughters; Jan Osborn of Howard and Peggy Juaire of Severy, Kansas, one sister Shirley Brown of Cedar Vale, Kansas, and one grandson Cody Juaire of El Dorado, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Raymond, Glen and Andy and two sisters; Lucille Littrell and Evelyn Wiggins.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Friday, May 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home with Pastor Robin Haines officiating. Memorials may be made to charity of choice. Online condolences may be left at www.countysidefh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home in Howard.
