Betty LaRue Maxwell's Obituary
Betty Larue Maxwell, age 81, of Chanute, KS, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at her home. LaRue was born on February 27, 1936 in Barton County, MO the daughter of Ross Roy and Roena (Cassett) Thomas. She was the youngest of 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
At age 6, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. She graduated in 1953 from Liberal High School.
In 1954, LaRue married Walter L. Horn and had one daughter Janet. They divorced in 1971. On December 22, 1984, LaRue married Gary Maxwell in Chanute, KS. They adopted his son Eric and her granddaughter, Rena.
LaRue’s work included receptionist and medical transcriptionist. She became director of medical records at both Research Medical Center in KCMO and Neosho Memorial Hospital in Chanute. She was a founding member of the Raytown, MO Free Will Baptist Church in 1957 and a member of Living Word Assembly in Chanute. She taught Sunday school and was committed in guiding youth to Christ.

LaRue was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Eldon and Claire and 2 sisters, Marie and Jean and grandson, Kyler.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Living Word Assembly in Chanute, KS. A service will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Living Word Assembly. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Worsley Cemetery near Bronaugh, MO. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, Chanute Christian Academy or Harry Hynes Hospice and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
