Betty J. Terry's Obituary
Betty J. Terry of Fredonia died peaceflly at home on June 14, 2018. Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Muller was born to George W. and Ferris "Topsy" (Oliver) Muller on October 14, 1928.
She attended rural Coffeyville schools and graduated from Field Kindley High School. She attended college in Coffeyville, Independence and Labette County. Early on she was a teacher and later substituted in the area. She also worked at City Publishing and was a realtor and insurance saleswoman. She also volunteered at the Christian Thrift Store in Fredonia, and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fredonia.
Betty loved the outdoors and horses and was a member of the Independence Saddle Club.
In 1947 she married Lawrence (Gene) Gillman and had 8 children. They later divorced. In 1971 she married Dean Terry and they later divorced.
She was a loving mother and grandmother to her 8 children, 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Betty is survived by 7 children, Pam McLaughlin, Peggy Warren, Larry Gillman, Chris Gillman, Paula Wilson, Penny Stueve and Pearl Schoonover. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Margie Gillman and Nadine Hunt, Brothers George A. Muller and Larry Muller, and one daughter, Patty Storm.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Kindred Hospice and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
