Billy Joe "Bill" Chard's Obituary
Billy Joe “Bill” Chard, age 73 of Chanute, KS, passed away on May 17, 2018 at NMRMC in Chanute. Bill was born on January 22, 1945 in Chanute, KS, the son of Frank and Doris (Phillips) Chard.
He graduated from Chanute High School in 1962. On February 15, 1974, Bill married Jeannie A. Masquelier in Chanute and they celebrated 44 years of marriage. Bill was employed at Ash Grove Cement Company for 35 years, retiring in 2007.
Bill served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1966 and was a proud Vietnam combat infantry soldier serving in Vietnam from 1965 to 1966. Bill courageously served as an Airborne Air Assault serviceman and most of all proud to have served his country. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, camping, motorcycles, and was an avid collector of many things. He also adored his KU Jayhawks and Kansas City Royals. Bill loved his family dearly and always made sure he was at his grandchildren’s events. His family meant the world to him and he will be greatly missed. Bill was a proud member of the First Baptist Church, American Legion, VFW and Disabled American Veterans.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church sanctuary in Chanute, KS. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Good News Center in Chanute. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute. The Chanute Honor Guard will be in charge of military honors. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
