Billy D. Ecton, Sr.'s Obituary
Billy D. Ecton Sr., age 88, a resident of rural Fall River, Kansas passed away Monday, March 26, 2012 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. He was born on January 27, 1924 in Coyville, Kansas the son of Jessie James and Stella (Callehan) Ecton.
On February 6, 1949 Billy was united in marriage to Doris Maxine Cornett at the Presbyterian Church Parsonage in Fredonia, Kansas. Billy farmed and ranched near Fall River for many years. He was a member of the Fall River United Methodist Church, a 65 year member of the Masonic Lodge and one of the original founders of the annual Fall River BBQ.
Billy is survived by his wife of 63 years Doris Ecton of Fall River, Kansas, one son Billy Ecton Jr. of Fall River, Kansas, two daughters Carolyn Shinkle of Smithville, Missouri and Dianna Teffeteller of Claremore, Oklahoma, one sister Jessie Claudine Olson of Wichita, Kansas, ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Patsy Neblock and three brothers; Raymond Ecton, Jerold Dee Ecton and Maynard Ecton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the Fall River United Methodist Church with Pastor Susan Galvan and Pastor Charlotte Coates officiating. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Family suggests contributions to either the Fall River United Methodist Church or the Fall River Booster Club and may be left in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home, P.O. Box 247, Fredonia, Kansas.
