Bob Joe Nelson's Obituary
Bob Joe Nelson passed away on March 4, 2019 at the age of 82. Bob was born on January 20, 1937 in rural Wilson County, KS. He is survived by his beloved wife Sarah "Sally" (Fitzmorris) Nelson of Saint Peters, MO. Son, Steve Nelson and wife Wendy of Elk River, MN. Daughter Sigrid Nelson-Cooseman and husband Jimy of St. Louis, MO. Three brothers: Joe Browne of Terlton, OK, Bill Browne, of WI and Jackie Browne of Caney, KS. Two sisters: Laura Lee Gruetzmacher of Tulsa, OK, Joedene Abling, of Norward, KS. Two granddaughters Keely Nelson and Sydney Nelson.
Bob is preceded in death by his mother, Edith (Harrington) Nelson, step father Joe Brown, Brother Charles Nelson, sisters: Betty Girard and Claudene Wilson,
Bob cherished 59 years of marriage to Sally. He was raised and grew up in rural Kansas. He later moved to the greater St. Louis area after graduation from Kansas State University and a brief stint in California. He then began his career at McDonnel Douglas for 33 years.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, camping and just enjoyed being outdoors. Most of all though Bob loved spending time with his family and when it came to his granddaughters, Bob didn't know the word NO. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 8, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Warrenton, MO.
Rosary will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, KS with burial to follow at Weakley Cemetery in New Albany. Memorials have been suggested to "Help Children with School Lunches" and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
