Buck Frederick Jones' Obituary
Buck Frederick Jones, age 80, of Chanute, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at the Iola Nursing Center. Buck was born August 8, 1934 in Chanute, KS the son of Hosea and Virgie (Morrison) Jones.
After graduating high school, he joined the Army and served in the Korean War. Buck later owned several local businesses’, The Dynamite Club, The Top Hat Club, Bucks Pawn Shop, A Coin Shop, Apartments & Rental homes, Bucks 2 Bucks, E & M Tavern, Quick Attack Fire Extinguisher and Southside Tavern. On April 1, 1983 he married Debby Koppel.
Buck is survived by his wife; Debby, sons; Randy Jones of Chanute, KS, Kevin Jones and wife Melissa of Yates Center, KS, daughter; Gina Robbins and husband Curt of Yates Center, KS, step-son; Connie Gale Woodard and wife Glenna of Aiken, SC, sister; Betty Kern of Warsaw, MO, 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Hosea and Virgie, step-son; Tony Woodard, brother; Gerald Jones, sisters; Maxine Lasley, Wanda McMillen, Half-brother; Bobby Jones and grandson; Matthew Swenson.
Cremation has taken place and the family will be holding a Celebration of Buck’s Life at The Knights of Columbus on 325 W 21st Street, Chanute Ks. on Saturday, August 16th from 12-5 pm. The family suggests memorials to the Equine Therapy program at the Cowboy Church, and may be sent to Countryside Funeral Home, 101 N. Highland, Chanute, KS 66720.
