Calvin Dean Young's Obituary
Calvin Dean Young, 63, a longtime resident of Neodesha, Kansas, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2022. He was born January 16, 1959, in Wichita, Kansas to Jesse D. and Shirley A. Young.
Calvin grew up in Wichita, graduating from Southeast High School in 1977. On July 29, 1988, he married the love of his life, Anita Ball in Wichita. He was a skilled craftsman in many fields and worked as a tool and die maker at Boeing in Wichita for 9 years. They relocated to Fall River, Kansas in the spring of 1991. Shortly after arriving they opened a bait shop on the corner of highway 96 and “Town Lane” entering Fall River. He also drove an articulated dump truck during the construction of 400 highway after closing the bait shop. Calvin started working in the warehouse moving to purchasing agent at Kansas Bank Note Company from 1995 until they closed in 2010. Calvin made many lifelong friends during his work there. Motorcycle riding was a great passion of his. He was also a 3rd degree master Mason. Calvin enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, from fishing to hunting or just having a good laugh with them.
Calvin is survived by his wife of 35 years: Anita; son: Cody (John) Young; mother: Shirley of Derby, Kansas; sisters: Twila (Randal) Starns of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; Regina (Joseph) Sabato of Bear, Delaware along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Jesse Young.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, Kansas.
Memorial contributions in memory of Calvin can be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s, and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.
