Carol Fae (Byers) Larkin's Obituary
Carol (Byers) Larkin, 82, of Chanute, KS, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, Chanute, KS. She was born in Borger, TX on August 17, 1936. The daughter of John and Dorothy (Gibbs) Byers, Carol graduated from Chanute High School in 1955. Carol was a hard worker from her first job in high school at Peoples Theater’s concession stand to Aeroduct, ILC, News Standard, Neosho Paper Products, and retiring from HBD Industries at age 80. A single mother, she often worked more than one job at a time but she was always devoted to her children and family.
Carol enjoyed reunions of family and friends whether they were organized in advance or spontaneous. A trusted friend to many who say, “Carol was always so nice to me,” she enjoyed helping people whenever and however she could. Being honest and considerate of others were always of prime importance to Carol. She also enjoyed movies, music, dancing, and television. Carol was a proud member of the Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics, & Allied Workers International Union, Local 198.
Carol is survived by son Tim Larkin (Karen), Lenexa, KS; and Richard “Tony” Larkin recently of the home. She is also survived by her sisters Nancy (Byers) Drybread (Lloyd, Jr.), Chanute, KS and Wanda (Byers) Hohnsbehn, Fuquay Varina, N. C. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and their children. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Arthur Earl Byers, Dean Edwin Byers, and sister Connie Lea (Byers) Harlow.
A casual Celebration of Life will be held at the Chanute Recreation Center Multi-Purpose Room, 5th & Highland, Chanute, KS, on October 20, 2018 from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Research Institute, Inc. 29 Broadway, 4th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10006.
