Catherine Louise "Cathy" Carlson's Obituary
Catherine Louise “Cathy” Carlson, 70, of Fredonia, Kansas passed away on July 5th, 2024 at her daughters home in Emporia, Kansas with her loving family by her side. Catherine was born in Fredonia, KS on May 11th, 1954 to Buddy Claibourn and Nellie “Shay” Claibourn.
Catherine Graduated from Fredonia High School in 1972, and was a bookkeeper for construction companies for most of her life. Catherine married Bert Carlson on September 9th, 1970 at the Bible Baptist Church in Fredonia, Kansas. Catherine loved collecting butterflies and bald eagle memorabilia; she also enjoyed camping and birdwatching. Catherine was a very loving and kind person to everyone but her most loved pleasure was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Oren Claibourn
Sister- Melissa Shoaf
Son-in-Law James Carlson
Grandchildren- Trevor Hegg and fiancé Mikayla Stroug and Jesse and his wife Jessica Hegg
Great Grandchild- Hudson Hegg
4 Step Great Grandchildren and 2 Great- Great Grandchildren
Nieces- Kristi Beerbower and children
Linda Solander and Children
Nephew- Brian Beerbower and Children
Many other beloved Nieces and Nephews
Catherine is Preceded in death by her parents Buddy and Nellie Claibourn, Brothers Samuel Claibourn and Ricky Claibourn, Sister Audrey Edgar, Son Shawn Carlson and Nephew Jason Claibourn.
Services will be held at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, Kansas on July 19th. Visitation will be at 3:00 PM and the service will be held at 4:00 PM. Memorials can be made out to the Fredonia VFW Auxiliary and may be left with or mailed to Countryside Funeral Home 420 S. 20th St. P.O Box 247 Fredonia, Kansas 66736
