Cecil E. Crim's Obituary
Cecil E. Crim age 88, of Chanute, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in Blue Eye, MO. Cecil was born October 3, 1925 the son of Frank and Mary Jane (Davis) Crim, in Miller, KS.
Cecil attended Miller High School and then spent one year at Baker University. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the Mt. Olympus, which was the flagship for amphibious operations. He was discharged in 1946, but was later recalled during the Korean War for 14 months.
Cecil married Adna Vliet on September 6, 1947 in Emporia, KS. He worked for the Santa Fe Rail Road as a relay telegrapher, starting out as a one man agent in Missouri, he covered Erie, Humboldt, Fredonia, and Chanute.
Cecil was a member of the Living Word Assembly, the American Legion, and was a ham radio operator most of his life.
He is survived by his sons; Allen Crim and wife Beverly of Parsons, KS, and David Crim of Humboldt, KS, brother; Gene Crim of Arizona, granddaughter; Heather Roberts and husband Jake of Blue Eye, Mo., and 4 great grandchildren.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Mary Jane, wife; Adna, son; Carl, brothers; Virgil, Dallas, and Myron, sisters; Frances, Mary Louise, and Meredith, and grandson; Phillip Crim.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2014 10:00 a.m. at Living Word Assembly. Visitation will be Monday, June 16, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel. Family suggests memorials to Living Word Assembly and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
