Charles L. Steele's Obituary
Charles L. Steele age 91 of Fredonia, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Lakepoint Care Center in Augusta, KS. Charles was born on April 8, 1926 in Broken Bow, OK, the son of Robert and Viola (Skienes) Steele.
Charles retired from Midwest Minerals Inc., where he worked as a scaleman and loader operator for 26 years, around the Fredonia and Neodesha areas. Prior to that, he worked for Tom Elder at the Elder Tire Shop on 7th St. in Fredonia.
Charles was a WWII veteran serving in the South Pacific theater from 1943 through 1946. After his release from the military, he became a professional musician, working with several big name musicians, and played in some of the largest Casinos in Las Vegas and Jackpot, Nevada and surrounding states.
On March 26, 1971 Charles married Norma Jean Smith. Charles and Norma Jean were married for 46 years, she survives at their home.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and son: Mike Huckins.
Cremation has been requested, a memorial service for Charles will be held by the family on Saturday, September 16th, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Fredonia. Memorials have been suggested to the Calvary Wesleyan Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Services are entrusted to: Countryside Funeral Home 420 S. 20th St., P.O.
