Charlotte Anne Payne's Obituary
Charlotte Anne Payne, 76, of Gladstone, MO passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, October 27, 2023, at The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, KS.
Charlotte married Max Payne on September 21, 1963. They have three children Kelli A Payne, Natalie S Payne, and Kevin C Payne. They have three Granddaughters (Elizabeth Payne Navarro, Amber Fesko Nastoff and Helen A Payne). They have one grandson Kevin Payne Jr,. They have two Great Grandsons (Jacob Earnshaw and Daniel Miller).
Charlotte began her nursing career at Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma and graduated from Saint Mary’s University in Leavenworth, Kansas with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN).
She was the Director of the Women’s Center at St John’s Hospital in Leavenworth, KS for several years. She worked in the Labor and Delivery Center in the Enterprise, Alabama hospital and sometimes was a flight nurse on helicopters transporting babies to more advanced hospitals.
While living in Washington, DC she was the manager of the Federal Health Center that provided medical support to the U.S. Supreme Court Justices and their staff. She later became manager of the Federal Health Center that provided medical support to the Secret Service Members and Staff who worked at the U.S. White House.
While living in Kansas City, MO and Fort Worth, TX she worked in the field of Federal Occupational Health providing support and medical guidance to Federal Health Facilities throughout the United States. She moved back to Fredonia, Ks where she worked in the Fredonia Regional Hospital and was instrumental in the planning and construction of the new section added to the original hospital.
Charlotte loved playing bridge with friends and golfing. She also loved the many cruise ship trips with her husband and friends and trips to foreign countries.
Charlotte was born in Canadian, Texas which is in the panhandle of Texas.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her father John Ralph McClure and mother Audrey Irene Dickerson, two sisters Kathleen Milberger, and Vicki Ferguson; two children Kevin Payne and Natalie Payne
Charlotte is survived by her husband of 60 years, daughter Kelli Payne Kansas City Mo, Granddaughters Ashley Payne Navarro and husband Keith Navarro Independence, MO, Amber Fesko Nastoff and her husband Brice Nastoff Appleton, WI, and Helen A Payne Wetumka, OK, one grandson Kevin Payne Jr, Wetumka, OK and two great grandsons Jacob Earnshaw and Daniel Miller Independence, MO and two sisters Patricia Vaught Fairbanks, AK and Barbara Smith and her husband Lee Smith, Topeka, KS
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, with a private family burial to follow at Fredonia City Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from noon until service time at the funeral home. Memorials in Charlotte’s memory are suggested to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Online condolences can be left at www.countrysidefh.com.
