Christopher S. Werly's Obituary
Christopher Shawn Werly, 48, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at his home in Chanute, KS. He was born on July 17, 1974 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Kent and Susan (Guriel) Werly.
Chris grew up in Las Vegas learning a host of skills from his father doing carpentry work. From this mentorship, Chris would gain knowledge that served him for many, many years as well as an incredible work ethic. He received his HVAC certification and ultimately could build a house from the ground up. There was nothing the man could not fix. In Chanute, he worked at a variety of places and volunteered his skill set whenever he could, be that for organizations or for neighbors – if you needed him, he was there.
November 17, 2001 was the day that Chris became not only a partner but also a father and grandfather. He had met his match in Sonja Huffman, also of Chanute. The couple had many adventures together and created many memories, most notably the trips to any and every area lake to fish. Anywhere the family could find a decent spot to set a pole, they would. As his grandson Jayden grew, Chris also took on a leadership role for Boy Scout Troop 71 for several years. In his time with the Scouts, he had the opportunity to connect with the area youth, taking trips and attending camps, creating irreplaceable memories.
Chris was loved fiercely and will be missed by many.

His wife Sonja, daughter Latricia Shaw and grandson Jayden Townsend of the home
