Clark Orlin Brinkley's Obituary
Clark Brinkley, 93 passed from this earth to be with his Lord and Savior, and his beloved wife Ruth on April 6, 2015. He was living at Wesley Towers Thorn Care Center, Hutchinson, Kansas at the time of his death.
Clark was born January 20, 1922, to Thomas Daniel and Mary Irene (Orendorff) Brinkley at Altoona, Kansas.
On November 6, 1942, he joined the Army Air Force and served his country honorably until his discharge on December 15, 1945.
On July 26, 1945 Clark married Ruth Katherine Little in Pass Christian, Mississippi. They were married 69 years. Ruth died August 15, 2014.
Clark worked farming near Benedict until the floods of 1951. He then worked for Boeing Air Craft Co., the Blue Bonnet Turkey hatchery, the Wilson County Courthouse and Elder Tire Service. He and Ruth moved to Houston, TX to work for Gift Acrylics. They moved back to Fredonia and he worked for Radiant Electric Cooperative until age 85.
Clark and Ruth donated the land where the Calvary Wesleyan Church is now located in Fredonia. Clark and Ruth loved to square dance. They were members of the Promenaders Square Dancing Group. He also loved working in his garden.
Clark’s survivors include 2 sons, Gary Brinkley and wife Virginia of Hutchinson; Wayne Brinkley and wife Susan of Surprise, AZ., and sister-in-law Lois Brinkley of Neodesha; 8 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Clark was preceded in death by his parents: a brother Robert Brinkley; a sister Hazel Edens, and daughter-in-law Patsy Brinkley.
Funeral services will be held Saturday April 11, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Fredonia with burial to follow at High Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
