Claude Marvin Markham's Obituary
Claude Marvin Markham, age 93 of Buffalo, KS, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019 in Chanute, KS. Claude was born on January 28, 1926 in Buffalo, KS, the son of Glen and Geneva (Newton) Markham. Claude was oldest of five boys.
He lived 60 years on the family farm in Buffalo before entering Heritage Nursing Home in Chanute in 1986. In the 33 years spent at Heritage, Claude had made many friends with the staff and residents. He was like Norm from Cheers, everyone knew his name. He loved his new Heritage family and they were so good to him, for that the family is forever thankful.
Claude loved to go fishing in his younger years and did chores on the farm. Every time you seen Claude, he would ask if you had been fishing. He also loved John Deere tractors. He would ask questions and everyone that knew him already knew what to ask back so Claude could then answer your question and keep the conversation going. Claude was loved by everyone that met him.
Claude is survived by his youngest brother, Phillip Markham and wife Earlene of Chanute; nephews: Junior, Skip, Alan Markham and John Willey; nieces: Carrie Cooper and Sherry Audiss; 12 great nieces and nephews and 13 great-great nieces and nephews.
Claude was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond, Dale and Harold Markham.
A visitation will be on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home Gibson Chapel at in Chanute, KS. Graveside service will be on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Buffalo Cemetery in Buffalo, KS. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. The family suggests memorials to be made to Castaways Animal Shelter and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 16 N. Forest, Chanute, KS 66720.
