Cynthia May Schoonover-Vetter's Obituary
Cynthia (Cindy) May Schoonover Vetter (66) passed in her home in Chanute, Kansas on May 1st, 2025. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on August 1st, 1958 at St. Francis Hospital. Her parents were Edward (Ed) Schoonover and Araminta (formally Brown) Schoonover.
Cindy graduated from Chanute High School in 1976. She had a love and passion for teaching, and obtained her Bachelor's in Elementary Education from Pittsburg State University in 1983, followed by a Master's in Educational Psychology from Wichita State University in 1991.
She taught at a variety of schools in Wichita for 16 years as a Learning Disabilities Teacher then later as a Special Education Teacher. After leaving the Wichita school district, she taught at Tutor Time, a childcare and learning facility in Wichita.
Cindy married Gary Vetter in 1977, divorced in 1999. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ed & Araminta Schoonover. Her survivors include:

Nieces and Nephews: Amanda Weibe and husband Sam, Nick Barriger and wife Tia
Great-Nieces and Nephews: Abigail & Gunner Weibe, Kyra & Alleigh Barriger
A Memorial Service celebrating Cindy’s life will be held on Friday, May 9th at 1:00 PM at Countryside Funeral Home, 101 N. Highland Ave. Chanute.
