Dale Haviland's Obituary
Alfred Dale Haviland, 76, of Chanute passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, April 13, 2023. Dale was born on February 11, 1947, in Thayer, Kansas, the son of Roy and Mary Juanita (Piatt) Haviland.
Dale grew up between Thayer and Chanute and in 1965 graduated from Chanute High School. After high school, Dale joined the Kansas National Guard and served his state and country honorably for six years. On January 26, 1967, Dale married Evelyn Marie Crews, they were married for 39 years and out of this union they were blessed with three children; Brian, Mark, and Jennifer.
Dale was a welder by trade and worked at Monarch Cement Company for a while before going to work at Chanute Manufacturing. Dale was a very gifted welder and could weld anything. Hunting and fishing were his passion, and according to anyone that went hunting with him, he was an incredible shot.
Dale was known as quite the prankster that never missed an opportunity to pull a prank. Dale was also a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and watched every single game that he was able to. Spending time with his friends at the Grain Bin was also very near and dear to Dale’s heart. Dale also loved John Wayne and watching Westerns; he never missed out on an opportunity to see The Duke in action. Dale also made sure that he did everything possible to not miss any event for his children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren.
Dale will always be remembered as a man that loved his grandchildren, spending time with his family, and for doing anything for anyone. He will be loved and greatly missed by all who knew him.
