Dale Merven Shipman's Obituary
Dale Merven Shipman, age 68, a resident of Winfield, Kansas passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Village in Winfield. He was born on November 12, 1942 in Howard, Kansas the son Merven and Edith L. (Morris) Shipman. He attended elementary and high school in Howard.
He was united in marriage to Charlene Croney and to this union was born three children; Corrina Faye Shipman, Ramona Lee Shipman and Dale Merven Shipman Jr. After thirteen years of marriage Dale and Charlene would divorce. Dale worked for Cold Unit Storage in Wichita, Kansas and the Kelly Ranch in Severy, Kansas. He moved to Arizona to stay with his brother and worked for a bowling alley. He moved back to Wichita and worked for the Pancake House. From there Dale moved to Winfield and worked for Checker’s, Walnut Hills and Good Samaritan Village. After suffering a stroke in 2010, Dale went to live at the Good Samaritan Village. His hobbies included fishing, watching cowboy movies, car races and watching football games on TV.
Dale is survived by his children: Corrina Faye, Ramona Lee and Dale M. Jr.; brother Dallas E. Shipman; sisters Delores J. Hallman and Deborah L. Todd, three grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be at 6:00 PM Monday, July 18, 2011 with visitation to follow until 8:00 PM at Countryside – Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard. Interment will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 19th at Grace Lawn Cemetery. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Dale Shipman Memorial Fund and may be left with the funeral home.
