Dale Raymond Shepard's Obituary
Dale Raymond Shepard, age 91 of Chanute, KS, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019 in Chanute. Dale was born on March 13, 1927 in Beaver City, NE, the son of Charles Edward and Mary Agnes (Davis) Shepard. After graduating from high school, Dale attended the University of Nebraska. In 1950, Dale married Shirley Cummings, she preceded him in death in 1972. Dale later married Wilma Larson-Everly in 1978 and she preceded him in death in 2004.
Dale was proud to have served his country in the United States Air Force in WWII from December 3, 1945 to December 2, 1948. He also served in the Korean War from October 22, 1950 to October 21, 1951. After he served his country, Dale went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad as a clerk. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing pool at the senior center and watching his grandkids activities. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1654, the American Legion Post 170 and the DAV. He served as President of the Chanute Senior Center and Elder of Otterbein United Methodist Church and was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; wife, Wilma; step-son, Harold Larson; brothers, Harley and Roy and sisters: Esther, Ruby, Zona Bell, Ella and Orpha.
Cremation has been requested. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home Gibson Chapel 16 N. Forest, Chanute, KS. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Otterbein United Methodist Church in Chanute. Military Honors will be held by the Chanute Honor Guard. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. The family suggests memorials to be made Chanute Senior Center and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 101 N. Highland, Chanute, KS 66720.
