Darlene Leo Bruner's Obituary
Darlene Leo Bruner, age 87 of El Dorado Kansas, passed away Wednesday October 17, 2018 at Chisholm Place in Wichita KS.
Darlene was born September 25, 1931 in Elk County Kansas, the daughter of Norris Leo and Madge (Ball) Leo. Darlene graduated high school in Howard Kansas and married George Kenneth Bruner on May 4, 1951 in Moline. After a short time living in Wichita, they then moved to El Dorado, Kansas where she and George enjoyed 65 years of marriage.
Darlene was the descendant of Elk County pioneers. She had a strong connection to the land, growing up on farmland that has been owned by her family for 110 years.
She worked as the office manager for Hogoboom Oilfield Trucking, Edco and retired from Star Street Ventures in El Dorado. She was a part of the Soroptimist Club, Credit Women, and was President of the Desk and Derrick club.
Darlene was a caring and compassionate woman, showing love to people and animals alike. She would take in and take care of any stray animal that she came across and would likewise “adopt” people. Traditions and history were an important part of her life, she enjoyed going to auctions and estate sales as a way to preserve history.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Norris and Madge Leo, husband George Kenneth Bruner, and sister Nancy Leo Hayes.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 22, 2018, 1:00 P.M. at Countryside Funeral Home, 206 East Washington, Howard, KS.
Interment will follow at the Moline City Cemetery.
