Darrell "Dynamite" Garner's Obituary
Darrell “Dynamite” Garner, age 80, passed away October 9, 2018, at his home west of Fredonia.
Darrell was born March 21, 1938 in Cherryvale, KS to Hal and Tilla (Hamilton) Garner. He graduated High School in the class of 1956. Afterwards, he joined the Kansas Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1963 after 8 years of service.
Darrell was married three times through his life. First to Carol Loebel of Eureka, KS who had Darrell’s first born, John. He then married Carolyn Richardson of Wichita, KS whom gave birth to Darrell’s only daughter, Desiri. Darrell’s final marriage lasted 48 years to the love of his life, Joyce Seiwert of Fredonia, KS, and together they had a son, Jeff.
Darrell held many jobs throughout his life. From being a Hair Dresser early on, to guiding hunters at Flint Oak Ranch. He worked on campers at Del Ray, and drove across the country as a truck driver. He was a well known auctioneer, but his most memorable titles will be working as a rodeo clown, bull fighter, and rancher. He was a proud member of many rodeo associations including the IPRA, URA, and ACRA. He was active in the local saddle club and coon hunting club.
Darrell greatly enjoyed restoring antique saddles, trail riding, and team roping, as he was well known for his horsemanship. He was a remarkable story teller and would entertain family and friends for hours. Some of his favorite times were having ice cream and yodeling with grandkids.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Joyce.
Sons: John Garner and his wife Elaine; Jeff Garner and his wife Crystal.
Daughter: Desiri Elaine Garner Henley Bell and husband Pete Bell.
Nine grandchildren: Clinton, Jared, Justin, Chloe, Caleb, Jacquelyn and Sedona Garner; Gabriana and Madison Bell.
Four great grandchildren: Otto Bell; Raphael, Gabriel, and Zelie Garner.
Two fur babies, Toby and Daisy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Aaron Garner; sister, Shirlee Garner.
Cremation has been requested with no services planned at this time.
