Daryl Lacey Beer's Obituary
Daryl L. Beer passed away peacefully at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center on August 17, 2025. He was born on June 2, 1957 in Kansas City, MO. He was the second child of Shirley Mae (Hartmann) and Carl L. Beer. He spent the first six years of life in Lenexa, Kansas and then the family moved to Overland Park, Kansas where he lived for the next 55 years in the home his father built. He graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 1975. He enjoyed wrestling his sophomore and junior years, and playing baseball in junior and senior year, lettering both years. He was an excellent pitcher with a dream of making it to the pros. After graduating, Daryl attended some college classes and worked at Jack Henry’s in the shipping department. When his father passed away when he was 20, he helped care for his mother until she passed away in 2017. He relocated to Humboldt to be near his sister and family. He had community care supporters who helped him succeed at living on his own with mental health challenges and medical issues. He was thankful for those who cared for him with compassion including Kathi Yokum and her staff at Ashley Clinic, NMRMC emergency and in-patient staff and Home Health staff, Windsor care workers Elaine and Alice, SEKMHC case manager Jackie. During his last year of his life, he lived at Heritage Nursing Home in Chanute due to multiple health issues and they embraced him as their own. He enjoyed the staff, residents, activities and food.
He was a beloved son, brother and uncle. He was kind, generous, quick to laugh, smile and say hello to everyone. He enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews grow up. He loved all kinds of music and listened to it constantly on his stereo and radio. His favorites were classic Rock n Roll. He was a big Royals and Chiefs fan rooting for them every season. In his free time, he liked to use his iPad to video call family members, listen to music, play games and color.
