David Kent Gorton's Obituary
David Kent Gorton, age 70, a resident of rural Fredonia, Kansas passed away Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Wilson Medical Center in Neodesha, Kansas. David was born on August 21, 1939 in Dover, Oklahoma the son of George Merle and Pauline Joyceline (Tharp) Gorton.
David was a farmer, master welder and mechanic. He was a member of the Christian Church in Lafontaine. David was also a board member for the Fredonia Senior Citizen’s and a water board member. He was an avid camper and traveler.
David is survived by two sisters Tacy Gorton of Hixson, Tennessee and Dixie Davidson of McPherson, Kansas, one aunt Margie Karch of Indianapolis, Indiana and two uncles Clarence Tharp and Lester Tharp both of Fredonia, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 1:30 PM at Countryside Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Benefiel officiating. Inurnment will be at the Koger Cheatham Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to either the Fredonia Senior Citizens or the Arbor Day Foundation and may be left with the funeral home.
