David Lee McLaren's Obituary
In Loving Memory of David Lee “Flash” McLaren
July 2, 1953 – February 24, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, David, who left us on February 24, 2025 at the age of 71. He was a devoted father and a cherished friend to many.
David was born on July 2, 1953 in Chanute, Kansas to Robert & Virginia (Packard) McLaren. He grew up in Chanute and enjoyed his lawn mowing business, and worked for USD 413 for 35 years, before settling into retirement. Above all, he was a man that would help whoever and wherever he could. He could be counted on for assistance with any variety of tasks. David never met a stranger and always supported his friends and family in times of need.
He found joy in attending car shows, creating various collections, taking road trips, and simply enjoying the little things in life. He was not a man of many words but would always be willing to sit and listen to a story and had a few of his own to share. His lessons and values will live on in our hearts forever.
He is survived by two children, Sara Glotzbach (Michael), Matthew (Stephanie), two grandsons Wyatt Glotzbach and Kit McLaren. One brother, Richard McLaren (Carolyn), nephew Brian McLaren and niece Jill McLaren, two aunts Darlene McLaren and Joyce Pate and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and one brother Jimmy.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 1st at 1:00pm at the American Legion. Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home.
