David Nicholas Neises' Obituary
David Nicholas Neises passed away peacefully from this world on Oct 5th, 2025, in Cherryvale, Kansas.
David was born in Wichita, Kansas, on September 16th, 1948, to Walter and Martha (Landis) Neises. He attended Bishop Carol High School and then entered the work force. On February 12th, 1972, he married Cynthia (Winter). They raised their 3 children, Jennifer, Kevin and Ryan and they later divorced. In Wichita, he worked at MBPXL as a butcher, then they purchased Buckle Meat processing in Independence and opened Neises Meat processing until they sold in 1984. He later became the manager at Sayers Ace hardware for many years. He finished his working career as a FED EX driver then retired from the Ralph Mitchell Zoo. In 1999, he married Cindy (Reyes). They made their home in Independence.
In his early days in Independence, he was an active member of Jaycees. He later became a baseball coach and a wrestling coach for his kids. He loved to participate in anything athletic and even played a touch of tennis himself. He loved his family and was a very hard worker. Later in life, his love of travel started, he didn't need to travel far but he and Cindy did like to go see all the sights and maybe take a motorcycle ride, even if it was just around Elk City Lake. He tinkered in his yard and helped all his friends and neighbors.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Cynthia Ross and their three children, Jennifer (Dee) Sanders, Kevin (Tonya) Neises, and Ryan (Crystal) Neises, His second wife Cindy Neises and her children Derek (Brandi) Reyes, and Cory and (Nicole) Reyes. Grandchildren Riley (Austin) Basham, Kyler Sanders, Keith Sanders, Peyton Neises, Cooper Neises, Bryce Bell, Gage Bell and Taelyn Bell, Jackson Neises, and Bryant and Brenden Reyes, along with his great grandchildren Palmer and Georgia Basham. He is also survived by brothers, Leroy, Martin (Lou), and Marvin (Kathy) and sisters Wanda (Ted) Seal, Ileen (John) Weber, and Maryann Neises.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Nancy (Ron) Tucker.
Visitation will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Thursday, October 9th from 10-11 with Reciting of the Rosary at 11:00 with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30. Interment will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery in Independence. Memorials can be made in David’s name to St. Andrew School and can be left with Countryside Funeral Home. The family of David Neises has entrusted services with Countryside Funeral Home.
