David Quentin Peck's Obituary
David Q. Peck, 70, of Chanute, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.
David was born on June 19, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Russell Lyman and Clarice (Roseberry) Peck. He attended high school in Wichita, graduating from Wichita West High School in 1961.
After attending the University of Kansas, David joined the United States Navy and spent 1962 – 1966 at the Naval Weather Service in San Diego, CA. He then attended Wichita State University and afterwards rejoined the Navy spending two years, 1970 -1972 in Western Australia.
He was united in marriage to Rhonda J. Doudna on February 2, 1974 at Vilas Bethel Lutheran Church. David and Rhonda made their home in Chanute, while David spent many years working in the field of restaurant management.
David and Rhonda were the owners of Chicago Junction from 1990 to 1996. David retired in 2006.
He loved to fish, play golf, and read stories to his grandchildren.
David is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rhonda; son and daughter-in-law Tony and Sonya Peck of Tulsa, OK; daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Phil Hett of Lindsborg, KS; grandchildren Jillian Hett, Benjamin Peck, Abigail Hett and Sara Peck. He also leaves behind a brother Bobby Peck of Junction City, KS and an aunt Annie Lawless of Kansas City.
He was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Clarice Peck; and an older brother, Kenny Peck.
Cremation has taken place.
A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 28, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at
Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel in Chanute.
Memorials in his name may be made to Castaways Animal Shelter and may be left with the funeral home.
