Dean Henry Ward's Obituary
Dean Henry Ward, age 85, of Howard, Kansas, died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Select Specialty-St Francis Hospital in Wichita. Dean was born on April 18, 1926 in Carmen, Oklahoma to Harry Robert and Esther Villetta (Goss) Ward.
In June of 1944, Dean joined the U.S. Army and served his country until October of 1948. After serving in the military, Dean worked on his ranch and also as an Aerospace Inspector for Boeing in Wichita. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Severy, KS. He also was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Cattleman's Association and served as an Elk County Commissioner for 7 years.
On September 1, 1987 at Melbourne Beach, Florida Dean married Evelyn C. Godsey. Dean and Evelyn were married for 24 years. Evelyn survives at her home.

10 Grandchildren: Brad and Mike Ward, Ed Bonnett, Brent Burke, Katie Garrett, Alex and Ana Mackowiak and Johan, Angela and Adrian Dreher.
3 Great Grandchildren: Seth, Chase and Mikenna Ward
He also has three stepchildren: Patricia Hizar, Terry Sherwood and Michael Fletcher as well as 12 step grandchildren and numerous step great grandchildren.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Esther Ward, brothers, Pete, Raymond and Whit Ward and one sister Hazel Koontz.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the Severy Baptist Church, with Pastor Tony Pameticky officiating, burial to follow at the Forest Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 2-5 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials have been suggested to the American Cancer Society, and may be left with the funeral home.
