Debra "Debbie" Kay Dahl's Obituary
Debra “Debbie” Dahl, age 62, of Chanute, Kan., passed away Monday, October 27, 2014, in Chanute, Kan. Debbie was born on July 18, 1952, in Chanute, the daughter of John “Jack” and Virginia Van Leeuwen.
Debbie graduated from Chanute High School in 1971 and was a lifelong Chanute resident. She worked as a Home Health Aide and Certified Nurse Aide and belonged to Zion Lutheran Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and her loving spirit will be greatly missed.
Debbie is survived by two daughters; Heather Wetzel and husband Thiele of Kansas City, Kan., and Kristen Stiles and husband Corey of Chanute; siblings Thom Van Leeuwen of Denver, Co., Vicki Sallee and husband Roger of Lake of the Ozarks and Kansas City, Mo., Diane Salyers and husband Lee of Parsons, Kan., Rick Van Leeuwen of Coffeyville, Kan., and Sam Van Leeuwen of Atlanta, Ga; grandkids Jaydine Stiles, Maya Wetzel and Quinn Wetzel, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Virginia, and one brother; Greg Van Leeuwen.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, October 30, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church at 1202 W. Main Street in Chanute.
The family suggests memorials be made to Castaways Animal Shelter or Zion Lutheran Church.
