Diane Marie Pettyjohn's Obituary
Diane Marie Pettyjohn, 75, of Fredonia passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at her home. Diane was born on February 9, 1949, the daughter of Albert W. and Marion E. (Emmerson) Lane Jr.
After completing high school at Douglas County in Colorado, she took several college classes. Diane was married to Melvin Pettyjohn on November 10, 1973. Diane and Melvin were married for 38 years until Melvin’s death on January 4, 2012. Diane dedicated her life to taking care of their family and their home. While their children were growing up, Diane was very involved in the Sunflower Go Getter’s 4-H club as a Leader, and club supporter, she carried on that tradition with her grandchildren. Diane was one of the Founding Members of the of the Fredonia Pound Pals. Diane had a passion for animals and shared her love with as many as she could.
Diane enjoyed reading and was a member of the Friends of the Fredonia Library. She enjoyed working in her garden and flower beds. Diane and Melvin enjoyed traveling to Arizona to see family, and spending time in the Mountains of Colorado. Diane was also a member of the Old Iron Club and the VFW women’s auxiliary.

Cindy Sele and husband Rick of Fredonia, Kansas
Sister-in-law:
Viola Lane of Missouri
Much loved nieces and nephews
Four Grandchildren: Alex and Jordan Corley and Chris and Richard Sele Jr.
Three Great Grandchildren: Lucious Corley-Gamble, Brooke Sele and Joseph Driscoll.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin and a brother Rod Lane.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service time. Memorials have been suggested to the Fredonia Pound Pals and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
